Our aim & approach
Building a team
We create youth leaders who work with rural managers at various stages of the project, including conducting surveys, motivating families to get toilets constructed and ensuring villages stay open defecation-free.
Need assessment survey
Youth leaders conduct surveys to understand villagers’ socio-economic status, helping us to understand the kind of hygiene and sanitation programs needed in the area. Such surveys also help us to shortlist the beneficiaries for whom intervention would be undertaken.
Awareness campaigns
We educate the rural community on topics related to hygiene and sanitation and share the importance of using toilets, through street plays & marches, yoga and meditation programs, and cleanliness drives. Youth leaders work closely with various stakeholders in villages - like the Panchayat, local youth, and the elderly - ensuring that all participate in making their village free from open defecation and such behaviours are sustained.
Toilet construction
IAHV works with the government as well as corporate entities to construct toilets under the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. We construct prefabricated toilets requiring less water for households with no direct supply of water, and brick and mortar toilets for households where water is not limited.
