Our Aim & Approach
IAHV has planted trees creating integrated afforestation and watershed development projects to combat the climate change threat and increase the green cover. Our afforestation initiatives include urban afforestation, social and agroforestry plantations alongside river basins.
The trees we have planted have a 80-90% survival rate. This has been possible because of our 3- step approach:
1. Planting saplings with proper soil preparation and using drip irrigation
Drip irrigation systems bring down the water requirement and thereby reduce maintenance costs significantly.
2. Digging deep trenches to protect from animals
Digging deep trenches around trees helps in harvesting rainwater; thereby maintaining soil moisture content critical for high survival rate of saplings. It also reduces sapling protection costs and protects them from being damaged by local cattle.
