Education

What is Value-Based Education?

A. Urban Schools: Sri Sri Ravi Shankar Vidya Mandir (SSRVM)

Children in urban communities are given value-based education at SSRVM. Besides functioning as full fledged schools, these also act as centers of excellence to train the faculty and develop innovative programs to be implemented by the rural and slum schools in adjoining areas. This unique symbiotic relationship has made a two tier setup which bridges the knowledge divide between urban and rural areas.  For more information on this unique initiative click on www.ssrvm.org.

Tripura Experience

Soma Sur, a teacher at SSRVM, is a teacher in Tripura. She develops curriculum for 30 rural schools. She underwent a teacher ’s training programme at the IAHV center in Bangalore. Today she heads a state level team to supervise the functioning of 30 rural schools spanning 5 districts of Tripura.

  • A community center for the entire village
  • Adult Literacy programs

Each school provides basic facilities, which along with locally trained youth leaders serves as a catalyst for holistic development for more than 1000 families spanning 10 villages.
